Ladakh LG condemned the Leh violence, said: 'It is not appropriate to damage public property'

New -Delhi, September 24 (IANS). Ladakh Ladakh Lt. Governor Kavinder Gupta strongly condemned the violence in Leh on Wednesday. He warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the disturbance of peace in the Union area. In the comments on the situation, the Lieutenant -Governor said that democratic protests and dialogues are the rights of the people, but the arson, stone and attacks on public and private property can never be appropriate. The Lieutenant -Governor said: “We know that everyone has the right to speak in democracy. Even hunger strike is part of the democratic traditions. But what we saw in the last one or two days that people are adapted, compared to Nepal and Bangladesh, is trying to set fire to private office and homes. Ladakh, especially the youth, to retain peace. Gupta asked: “Our soldiers only had sticks, but still CRPF staff tried to set a car on fire, even the DGP car was attacked. Is it justice? Should we allow our soldiers to be targeted?” So they do not get work in tourism and health sector. He added: “I call on everyone to maintain harmony and ensure that the tradition of the peace of Ladakh remains.”
