Minister Agus explains 2 reasons for moving Ammar Zoni to Nusakambangan

Jakarta – Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) Agus Andrianto explained the reasons why former artist Ammar Zoni was moved to the Super Maximum Security Prison in Nusakambangan. Agus emphasized that Ammar Zoni has been involved in drugs three times and has the status of recidivism. “Considering the relevant record, he was arrested several times. And while he was serving his sentence, he was still found in possession of drug evidence,” Agus Andrianto told journalists on Friday (24/10/2025). Ammar Zoni was caught after prison officers searched the block of flats. “What is certain is that Ammar Zoni was found to be in possession of drug evidence such as marijuana and crystal methamphetamine, which violates the provisions of Section 127 of Act Number 35 of 2009 on narcotic drugs, and the evidence found exceeded the rehabilitation provisions based on Supreme Court Circular Number 010 which restricts the possession of evidence. for rehabilitation,” Agus explained. It was these two reasons, Agus said, that made the Imipas ministry have to move Ammar Zoni to Nusakambangan. Agus assessed that Ammar Zoni was in the high risk category. “These two things show that those involved do not comply with the rules. We consider it a high risk, because it could be that drugs are used alone, used by other people or used together. So for justice we will take the same steps as others against those involved,” said Agus. Agus said Ammar Zoni broke prison rules. Agus stressed that his party will not hesitate to take action against anyone who violates prison rules, both inmates and prison officials. “This is not the problem of Ammar Zoni, a public figure, that’s why he was transferred. Anyone in prison who breaks the rules, especially drugs, has the potential to harm himself and others. We don’t see who he is, what we want is that the transfer to Nusakambangan deters the person concerned and has a deterrent effect on anyone,” he said. Furthermore, Agus said, before moving Ammar Zoni to Nusakambangan, his party had already moved 1,500 high-risk prisoners. Agus said that inmates will be assessed every six months and can be moved to a lower prison if the risk is reduced. “It is our commitment to eradicate drugs in prisons,” said Agus. “If we assess it in six months and reduce the risk, we might be able to send it back to another location,” he added. Ammar Zoni Moved to Nusakambangan Ammar Zoni is currently serving 4 years in prison, but instead he started selling drugs in the detention center. As a result of his fourth drug trip, Ammar Zoni has now been moved to Nusakambangan Island. “This is proof that the warnings of the Minister (Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto) and the Director General (Director General of Corrections Mashudi) are serious. That anyone involved in drug trafficking will be prosecuted,” the Head of the Sub-Directorate for Cooperation at the Directorate General of Social Affairs, emphasized on Thursday (A16/10). Ammar Zoni was moved from Jakarta together with five other prisoners. The group of officers carrying Ammar Zoni was moved to Nusakambangan. Rika explained that Ammar Zoni was transferred to the Super Maximum Prison. Not only that, the jail also has maximum security. “Every other high-risk prisoner transferred to Nusakambangan will also be placed in super maximum and maximum security prisons,” said Rika. As is well known, Ammar Zoni’s actions in selling drugs were discovered when prison officials became suspicious of Ammar Zoni’s movements. Ammar Zoni along with five other people distributed drugs in the Salemba Detention Centre, namely A, AP, AM Alias KA, ACM and MR. From the results of the investigation, it was revealed that Ammar Zoni and his colleagues used the Zangi application to communicate in the execution of drug dealing in the detention center.
