Minister of Culture receives 40 suggestions for names of national hero title recipients from Minister of Social Affairs

Jakarta – Minister of Culture Fadli Zon received 40 proposed names for recipients of the title of national hero from Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf after discussing the results of the meeting of the Central Title Research and Review Team (TP2GP). The list of names will be presented to President Prabowo Subianto before the commemoration of Heroes’ Day, 10 November. In a meeting at Building E of the Ministry of Culture, Senayan, Fadli explained that the nomination for recipients of the title of national hero went through a long process with strict selection and in-depth study until all names were deemed worthy. “I received a proposal from the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, from the 2025 Central Degree Research and Review Team. I, as chairman of the Council for Degrees, Merit and Honors, naturally accept it,” Fadli said in a written statement, Tuesday (21/10/2025). Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT He added that the process of revising honorary degrees was carried out through collaboration between regional and central governments, and by involving experts from various fields before presenting the results to President Prabowo Subianto. “This process went through studies of districts, cities, then provinces. The discussions also involved experts, through seminars, books. Finally, after going through the Central Level Research and Study Team or TP2GP, those who were proposed were deemed to meet the requirements,” he explained. As chairman of the Indonesian Council for Titles, Service and Honors (GTK), Minister of Culture Fadli Zon explained that the awarding of the title of national hero is a form of respect for figures who have contributed to the nation. He emphasized that the process of determining the names of degree recipients will be completed before the commemoration of Heroes’ Day on 10 November. “Before Heroes’ Day on November 10, we will present the results of the Degree Council meeting to the President. The number of 40 names is a recommendation from us, but the rest still depends on the President’s prerogatives,” he added. In line with this statement, Saifullah Yusuf also expressed his commitment to continue conducting history-based studies by presenting the names of the recipients of the title of national hero. “As in previous years, the Ministry of Social Affairs submitted names that were previously researched, studied and also in depth. I will forward the results today to Mr. Fadli Zon as Chairman of the Degree Council. Of course, it will then be discussed and we will wait together for the results,” says Saifullah. At the conclusion of the meeting, Fadli hoped that the hero award could also be given to figures who have contributed to the cultural field.
