Minister of Higher Education reveals Prabowo's directions regarding Human Resource Development to support the MBG programme

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto has asked the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yularto to improve human resources (HR) in various sectors. Brian said this after attending a limited meeting (ratas) at Prabowo’s residence in Kertanegara, South Jakarta. “So in essence, Mr. President reminded us again because we want Indonesia’s growth to give rise to new industries, from food security, energy and mineral downstream. So, we are reminded again to carefully calculate the necessary human resources,” Brian said after attending a meeting with President Prabowo, Sunday (19/10/2025). “(The calculation results) are what we formulate, we formulate it. Of course, because the sectors mentioned above, industrialization, food security, energy security, are mainly STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics),” he added. Curriculum development must also take into account technological developments and the use of artificial intelligence. “So that what is done in universities, LPDP scholarships and others is in line with the numbers. So that there is no mismatch between the human resources we prepare in higher education and the future growth of the existing industry,” said Brian. “So it also includes the curriculum. The President reminded us how rapid technological developments, the use of AI and other things, are taken into account or considered when updating the curriculum,” he added. Brian said human resource development was also carried out to support government programs such as Free Nutritious Meals, Red and White Cooperatives and Fisherman’s Villages. Human resource development is also carried out in the technology sector, especially those related to the defense sector. “It is of course also linked to various programs, whether it is MBG, Fisherman’s Village or the Red and White Cooperative. So all the growth sectors that are going to run, we hope that the human resources will be prepared. This is what we emphasized again,” said Brian. (sol/yang)
