Jakarta -Minister of Environmental Affairs (LH), Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, will review the granting of an environmental approval permit for mining activities in Raja Ampat Regency, Southwest Papua. Hanif said there are four companies that run mines on small islands located differently, namely Pt Gag Nickel (GN), Pt Anugerah Surya Pratama (APP), Pt Kaei Sejahtera Mining (KSM) and Pt Mulia Raymond Perkasa (MRP). “So we mention that the approval of the environment should be revised, or we may consider giving yes, if the first technology is not mastered, or the ability to rehabilitate the poor,” Hanif said when he explained the findings of the mining process on Gag Island by PT GN, Pullman Hotel, Central Jakarta, Sunday (6/8/2025). He said that the approval of the environment would not be given to the PT. “But technical for environmental approval, it will probably be difficult to provide, because mining activities in the protected forest area are not allowed with an open pattern, while nickel mining is performed with an open pattern,” Hanif said. “The results of our field supervision also stopped that exploration activities were performed at the MRP to stop further activities.
