Minister of the Interior Tito invites regional governments to follow up the program for three million houses
Jakarta – Minister of Internal Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian invited regional governments (Pemda) to work together to make the program for three million houses a success. This is because this program is one of the priority programs promoted by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto. This was expressed by him today at the Socialization of the People’s Business Credit Program (KUR) for Housing and Housing Finance Liquidity Facilities (FLPP) at the Shangri-La Hotel Ballroom, Surabaya City, East Java (Jatim). “It is an excellent program, and he (the President) wants it to be a pro-people program, because he sees the reality that there are people who do not have homes,” Tito said in a written statement on Thursday (16/10/2025). That is why the president specifically instructed the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, to build three million houses. The realization of this program requires the cooperation of related ministries/institutions. One effort to make this program a reality is by facilitating incentives, including KUR, FLPP and other programs. In that context, the Ministry of Interior (Kemendagri) invites regional governments to support this program. Meanwhile, Tito together with the Minister of PKP and the Minister of Public Works (PU) issued a Joint Decree regarding the implementation of exemption from Land and Building Rights Acquisition Fee (BPHTB) and exemption from Building Approval Charge (PBG) for low income communities (MBR). According to him, this policy will offer benefits to regional heads. The reason is that if this policy is well implemented, it will increase the popularity of regional chiefs and can also be a noble step. “Because it helps low-income people. Do we want to collect taxes and levies from people who can’t afford it? Something like that,” he said. Tito said that his party, together with the minister of PKP, has built a licensing system that makes things easier for the public. The public can avail these services in Public Service Centers (MPP) in districts/cities. “Well, we can monitor in real time. So every week we read it continuously. And later we will make allocations later (one of which is for the regional government that issues the most PBGs for MBR),” he said. For additional information, also present at this activity were the Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, the Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak, the Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi, and other related officials.
