Ministry of Culture signs a number of MoUs with related ministries and institutions
Jakarta – The Ministry of Culture (Kemenbud) has signed a number of Memorandums of Understanding with related ministries and institutions. This activity is the result of a series of intensive preparations and in-depth coordination involving several relevant directorates and all partner institutional ministries. The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Menbud), Fadli Zon, emphasized in his speech that the promotion of national culture is a constitutional mandate that must be shared by all parties, where the scope of culture is very wide, from material and intangible cultural heritage. “The mandate contained in article 32 paragraph (1) reminds us that the promotion of culture is a shared responsibility of all elements of the nation. It is a constitutional order that is the basis for all of us to promote Indonesian national culture in the midst of world civilization,” he said in a written statement, Tuesday (21/10/2025). SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Fadli Zon also said that in exactly one year of his leadership at the Ministry of Culture, the constitutional mandate became the main guideline in formulating the direction of national cultural policy. He emphasized that the promotion of culture is a collective responsibility across sectors and requires support from various ministries and government institutions. “The scope of culture is very wide, from intangible cultural heritage and objects: language, literature, manuscripts, rites, traditional food, traditional sports, folk games, to art, including film, music and performing arts. Based on Act Number 5 of 2017 on the Promotion of Culture, the scope of all national culture is therefore very necessary and therefore we need a lot of support from all national culture,” explains and therefore we are very necessary. Fadli Zon added that the richness and diversity of Indonesian culture is a strength that places the Indonesian nation as one of the superpowers in the field of culture. Indonesia has 1,340 ethnic groups and 718 regional languages, representing about 10 percent of all languages in the world. “To date, we have designated more than 2,200 intangible cultural heritages (WBTb), and this year alone there were more than 500 new designations. The potential may even reach tens of thousands. There are 16 of our cultural heritages that have been registered with UNESCO. Our cultural wealth is so great that the term is in diversity, we are not enough in diversity.” said. At the end of his speech, Fadli Zon expressed his hope that cooperation between ministries and institutions through the signing of this memorandum of understanding can further strengthen shared responsibility in the realization of the constitutional mandate, namely the promotion of Indonesian national culture in the midst of world civilization. “Hopefully, we can work together in the future, that the responsibility for the promotion of culture, not only lies with the Ministry of Culture, but also in the hands of other ministries and institutions, in accordance with constitutional orders, the state promotes Indonesian national culture in the midst of world civilization,” he said. Meanwhile, the Director of Cooperation, Mardisontori, said in his report that the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding was an important moment for the Ministry of Culture together with all related ministries and institutions to encourage strategic cooperation and collaboration in the field of culture to overcome various challenges, both nationally and globally. He said that the signing of this cooperation covers a broader cultural field, including the provision, utilization and exchange of data and information; increasing, developing and utilizing human resource capacity; cross sector program synergy; policy strengthening; law enforcement support; preparation and dissemination of communication, information and educational material in the field of culture; coordination and optimization of asset recovery; improving the quality of records management; to community empowerment. “This cooperation specifically focuses on the mapping, protection, facilitation and improvement of human resources related to the protection of objects for the promotion of culture in accordance with Law No. 5 of 2017 on the promotion of culture,” said Mardisontori. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was carried out with ministries and institutions including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency, Ministry of the Environment/Environmental Control Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia, National Police of the Republic of Indonesia, Food and Drug Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, and the National Police of Indonesia.
