Aizawl, September 21 (IANS). Mizoram police have acted under the anti drug campaign and have seized drugs on more than Rs 11 crore. The action took place during two separate operations in Setual and Champai districts. The Satual Police repaired 15 kg of heroin from a vehicle on September 18, which costs about Rs 4.3 crore in the international market. Initially, the police hid 6 kg of heroin in the vehicle’s spare wheel, but when the case was deeply investigated (led by Asp Pu Rokima and IPS officer Pur Arun Balgotra), an additional 9 kg of heroin and recovered from the entire vehicle. Police believe this is the largest heroin seizure in Mizoram’s history. The next day of the Satual Operation, Champai police had a great success on September 19. Police seized 70.2 kg of methmfetamin (about 6.56 lakh tablets), which is an estimated price of Rs 9.12 crore. This action was taken based on intelligence received from Jokhawathar police. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Vivek Kumar Maurya (IPS) under the leadership of Si Lalhunathara and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Inquiry) P. Lalrinjuali. In this operation, police arrested 27 -year -old accused Lanunathara, resident Dinthar Veng, Champai. A case is registered against him under the ND andPS Act. The timely information given by NGO leaders from both towns, along with Bulfaikajol and Hruicon police units, contributed to the success of Champai operation. This rapid action of the Mizoram police is considered a major warning against the growing addiction network in the state. Officials say such campaigns will be strengthened so that the state can be intoxicated. -Ians VKU/DKP shares this story tags
