On the night of Diwali, a sudden fire broke out in an Ertiga taxi near Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Phase-11 of Mohali. It is said that this accident happened due to falling sparks from firecrackers, due to which the car started burning completely. As soon as the flames came up, there was panic in the area and people immediately informed the fire department. The fire brigade received the information at 12:20, after which the team deployed in Sector-65 reached the spot in just four minutes. By then the front part of the car was completely engulfed in flames. The team brought the fire under control within five to seven minutes and saved other cars parked nearby from damage. The owner of the car has not been identified at this time. The fire department informed the police about the incident and the police are investigating the matter. Amid the Diwali celebrations, this accident has once again raised questions about safety. Local people appealed to the administration to take strict action against the use of fire crackers so that such accidents can be prevented in future.
