Trump's open warning to Apple CEO, '25 percent tax will be charged for not making iPhones in America '
Washington, May 23 (IANS). US President Donald Trump gave an open warning to Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday. He said on the social media platform the truth that if the iPhone is built outside the US, at least 25 percent of the rate must be paid. The US president said in a post: “I notified Apple’s Tim Cook long ago, I hope his iPhone will be manufactured in the United States in America, not in India or anywhere else.” Trump further said that if it is not, Apple will have to pay at least 25 percent rates to the US. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he asked Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, to leave his plan to set up more manufacturing plants in India and focus instead on building these plants in America. During a meeting in Doha in Qatar, Trump said: “Apple will increase its production in the United States.” India has become an important center for Apple’s global supply chain over the past few years. India Minister of Communications Jalotiraditya Scindia said at the same time that global technology giant companies such as Apple have a better economic understanding as they show their understanding with a plan to draw up a manufacturing plant in India.
