The foundation of the Mill Bridge on the Himachal Punjab border collapsed, postponed a major railway crash

A major accident was averted on Friday morning in Indora City on the border of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. A large part of the foundation of the old railway bridge on the Mill River collapsed due to flooding and washed away in water. The accident occurred when a passenger train crossed the bridge. Fortunately, the bridge did not completely fall and no passenger lost lives and property. According to the information, the water level in the Mill River due to heavy rain suddenly increased very quickly. The river was so high that the land was washed away from the foundation of the old railway bridge and a part of it suddenly collapsed. According to eyewitnesses, a train went through the bridge when the incident occurred. If the foundation fell a while ago, the whole bridge could have collapsed and a major accident could have occurred. The Railway Administration acted quickly and immediately stopped the movement of trains on the bridge and a team of engineers were sent on the spot. Officials said the condition of the bridge is technically evaluated and for security, rail traffic has been derived on alternative routes. A senior railway department official said: “We found out that the establishment of the bridge was weakened due to flooding in the Mill River. The incident is being investigated and the necessary recovery instructions have been given. Safety of passengers is our priority.” The local administration also issued a warning in the towns around the precaution and requested people not to go to the banks of the river. The meteorological department predicted more rainfall in the next 48 hours, which can make the flood situation more serious. This bridge has been in discussion many times because the age is very old and raised many questions about its recovery. This incident once again exposed the strength of infrastructure and the need for timely inspection. It is noteworthy that the Mill River is often flooded during the monsoon in the border areas of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, which affects railway and road traffic. This time, too, a major accident was averted in time with vigilance and happiness. Share this story -tags
