MPR & UNS Vocational School work together to strengthen constitutional literacy
Jakarta – The Indonesian MPR Library has signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Sebelas Maret University Vocational School (UNS) regarding the strengthening of constitutional literacy through Academic Library activities. Head of the Public Relations and Information Systems Bureau of the MPR RI, Anies Mayangsari Muninggar, said that Academic Library activities are a form of cooperation between government institutions and universities. This activity aims to strengthen public understanding, especially the younger generation, of constitutional values and national life. “This is the first step in the joint commitment between the Secretariat General of the MPR RI and the Sebelas Maret University Vocational School in expanding the network of knowledge, research and dissemination of constitutional values,” says Anies in his statement, Thursday (23/10/2025). Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT He delivered this at the Academic Library Activity in the hall of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Suhardi Building, Sebelas Maret University, Wednesday (22/10/2025). Titled “Comparative Constitutional Law: The Japanese Constitution Between Stability and Demands for Amendment”, this event hosted a number of officials and academics. Furthermore, Anies emphasized that the Indonesian MPR is responsible for providing and disseminating information regarding state administration, the constitution and the history of the Indonesian parliament. This collaboration is a strategic medium to convey this literacy to students and the academic community. The presence of the Academic Library is expected to become a forum for the productive exchange of ideas between the MPR RI, the academic community and practitioners, as well as to strengthen the national and constitutional insight of Indonesian society. In this activity, a book review by Dr. Isharyanto who brought forward a comparison of the Japanese constitution. This includes the resilience of the Japanese constitution, which has never been amended since 1947. “This book is important as reflection material for Indonesia to strengthen its constitutional system, as well as a reference for the Indonesian MPR study body to respond to the dynamics and aspirations of amendments to the 1945 constitution,” explains Anies. Meanwhile, prof. Herman Saputro, dean of the Sebelas Maret University Vocational School, appreciates the start of this collaboration. He said collaboration between the world of education and government institutions is a strategic step in supporting the improvement of vocational students’ skills. “The mandate to educate more than 6,600 students to become skilled workers is certainly not easy. We really need collaborations like this so that vocational education becomes more relevant to the needs of the working world,” said Herman. Furthermore, Herman explained that this collaboration also coincided with the transformation of the D3 Library Studies Program into an Applied Bachelor’s Degree in Libraries. “We carried out this transformation in response to the declining trend of interest in the D3 program, as well as to respond to the need for professional staff in the field of information and documentation,” he added. At the same event, Associate Librarian Yusniar introduced the excellent services and collections of the MPR RI Library. He said that the MPR library has a vision to become a center for legislative information services that is appropriate, complete, accurate and open. Yusniar also explained the two main types of services available, namely technical services and user services. This includes reading room, circulation, reference and digital library services. “We have more than 16,000 physical collection titles and thousands of digital collections that can be accessed for free through the MPR Digital Library. This is part of our commitment to supporting the study of the constitutional system and the dissemination of constitutional values to the wider community,” explains Yusniar.
