Viola Davis Reveals Why she signed on to become an action Star in ‘G20’ – ryan
The name Viola Davis has become synonymous with dramatic roles thanks to her academy Award-nominated performances in films like The help, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottomand Doubt. WINNING THE BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS SLOPHY FOR HER PORTRAYAL OF ROSE LEE MAXSON IN 2017’S Fencesfolks were a little surprised when it was revealed that Davis would be leading the action flick G20 for Amazonand now, one of the Greatest actors of her generation is reveeling why she decided to trade tears and tissues for some tactical butt kicking.
Chatting with the times of London, Davis ghosts about what it was that drew her to G20in which she plays American President Danielle Sutton, a woman who finds herself defending her family, and her fellow world leaders in Cape Town, South Africa, when the Titular Summit is Belieged by Terrorists. If there was any doubt as to who saves the day, one poster for the movie has her decked out in a red gown holding an automatic rifle in one hand, and a gun in the other. It’s definitely not the kind of movie that is going to win her an Oscar, but for Davis, she’s perfectly okay with that.
I don’t think every movie you do to be considered for an academy award. I wanted to do something that families could watch together, something popular.

Viola Davis has proven that she can do it all. Let’s take a look at 10 or her best performances of all time.
Directed by Patricia Riggen and also Starring Anthony Anderson, Antony Starr, Marsai Martin, and Ramón Rodríguez, There’s Little Doubt That G20 Will definitely be popular. Similar Action Films Like White House Down Have proven to be favorites in the genre, and based on the tagline alone (never underestimate a patriot), it’s almost a guarantee that the movie will shoot to the top of the charts on Prime video when it’s released on April 10.
Viola Davis was already in Perfect Shape for ‘G20’
While G20 Might Seem Like A Marked Departure for Davis, She’s No Stranger to Portraying Strong Women who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. She appeared in the DCU as Amanda Waller, and she Led the Blockbuster Action-Adventure Film The Woman King In 2022, which focused on an all-final Warrior unit that protected the West African Kingdom of Dahomey during the 17th to 19th centuries. As such, when it came time to once more serve as protector in G20she didnt have to do too much training to get into shape, as she already had a weight-lifting regime in place that served her well.
“I’m not one of those women who is afraid to look muscular, and I don’t believe in losing a whole lot of weight so I can be magazine-ready-there’s still a part of me that wants to represent real life.
As for the Film’s Elaborate Fight Sequences? Davis says she “squealed” when she got to take down the much larger David James, who plays one of the terrorists. “The only two people you do anything to be your six-year-old self and your 80-year-old self,” she added.
IT Definitely appears as if IF G20 is going to please the kid in all of us when it makes its premiere on prime video on April 10. The only questions that remain: will it becomes a successful franchise, and when can we see Davis kicking some butt again?
