Mumbai: Ai's eye, crowd and great success in crime control in Lalbagcha Raja

Mumbai, September 17 (IANS). During the Ganeshotsav, this time a new technology was used for security in Lalbagcha Raja, one of the most famous Ganapati mandals of Mumbai. Mumbai police have for the first time managed to control the crowd and the crime using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which is appreciated everywhere. Mumbai police DCP Ragasudha R. (Zone 4) told Ians that a crowd of millions in Lalbagcha Raja has gathered in a limited area for ten days, in which maintaining safety is a major challenge. This time, AI technology was used on the instructions of the Mumbai Police Commissioner, which made the crowd’s management much easier than before. Under this technology, CCTV cameras are linked to AI tools, which get in real information that how many people come in, how many people come out and where the crowd becomes more. As soon as the crowd in an area begins to increase, the policy team on the spot will be sent a warning and the system handled there. DCP Ragasudha R. said that this technology was not limited to rush control, but also played a major role in crime control. Criminals with old records have been identified by the facial recognition system. As a result, crimes such as mobile theft, chain bud has seen a major decline this time. Police collected data from about 10,000 people during ten days, with the help of a direct access to the accused in one case. This technology is currently used at an experimental level, but the results were so good that the police now intend to apply it on a large scale in the future. The DCP said: “We used AI for the first time and its effect was clearly visible. Real -time data immediately received information about the situation. It was very useful to control the crowd and crime.” -Ians VKU/SCH Share this Story Tags
