Which doubled the happiness of these people at the festival. This was part of a dedicated operation under DCP Zone-6 aimed at tracing lost and stolen valuables and returning them to their rightful owners, which the police termed as “Special Diwali Return Gift”. Phones were returned to 800 people. The Mumbai Police also shared pictures of officers returning phones to their owners. The officers were praised on social media and users called it a brilliant move by the police. In a post on Instagram, Mumbai Police wrote: “Bringing happiness to the lives of Mumbaikars, DCP Zone 6 in a dedicated operation to trace and return lost and stolen items, handed over the recovered valuables to their rightful owners today.” “In a special ceremony, 800 mobile phones recovered by police stations falling under Zone 6 were returned to their owners.” Praising this initiative of the police force, social media users made comments like ‘Salute to our heroes’ and ‘This is very heartwarming’. A user, who lost the phone he bought with his first salary, shared his gratitude and nostalgia. “I lost my phone in my area a few months ago. I reported it to the police station but no response yet. I bought it with my first salary. It’s been months and I still haven’t recovered. By the way, Happy Diwali,” the user wrote in the comment section.
