Mumbai, October 19 (IANS). In a major feat, the Mumbai Police recovered 1,464 stolen mobile phones and precious jewelery worth lakhs of rupees in the last one month. The police returned all these items to their rightful owners. The total value of these recovered mobile phones is estimated to be around Rs 3 crore, while the value of gold and silver jewelery is around Rs 21.87 lakh. This success was achieved by the police teams of DCP Zone-3, Zone-4 and Zone-5. A total of 356 mobile phones were returned to their owners in the areas that fall under DCP Zone-3. These include 62 mobile phones from Tardeo Police Station, 80 mobile phones from Nagpada Police Station, 48 mobile phones from Agripada Police Station, 61 mobile phones from Byculla Police Station, 55 mobile phones from Worli Police Station and 50 mobile phones from NM Joshi Marg Police Station. All these police teams have used the help of modern technology and mobile tracking systems to solve theft cases, thanks to which hundreds of citizens have been able to recover their mobile phones. In DCP Zone-4, the police recovered a total of 448 mobile phones and returned them to the citizens. These include 72 mobile phones from Byculla (Bhoiwada) Police Station, 48 mobile phones from Kalachowki Police Station, 79 mobile phones from Matunga Police Station, 58 mobile phones from RAK Marg Police Station, 69 mobile phones from Sion Police Station, 61 mobile phones from Antop Hill Police Station and 61 mobile phones from Wadala. TT Police Station. Police officials from this zone said that in most of the theft cases, mobile phones were detected during transit or before they were sold on online platforms. The team of DCP Zone-5 recovered maximum 660 mobile phones and handed them over to the citizens. These include 138 mobile phones from Dadar Police Station, 113 mobile phones from Shivaji Park Police Station, 88 mobile phones from Mahim Police Station, 70 mobile phones from Shahu Nagar Police Station, 108 mobile phones from Kurla Police Station, 46 mobile phones from VB Nagar Police Station and 97 mobile phones from Dharavi Police Station.
