Mumbai: Racket making and selling fake postage stamps busted, 3 arrested
Mumbai, October 21 (IANS). Mumbai MRA Marg Police arrested 3 accused, busting a huge fake stamp racket in collaboration with the General Post Office (GPO). This racket operated from Delhi and Bihar. During investigation, the police found that the gang was selling fake postage stamps at half their face value. The police arrested three people with information from postal officials and the cooperation of the General Post Office. The police traced transactions worth more than Rs 8 crore in the bank accounts of the accused. MRA Marg police registered a case under relevant sections of BNS. This nationwide scam was uncovered when postal department officials detected fake and forged stamps during the examination of some postal letters. The accused have been identified as Rakesh Bind, Shamsuddin Ahmed and Shahid Raza. The police kept them in custody until October 23, after which the whole case will be determined after questioning. The police officer said the accused are being interrogated. Is any bank employee involved in this case? Appropriate action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in the investigation. In the same sequence, Mumbai Crime Branch on Sunday arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly beating his 14-year-old daughter to death and seriously injuring his wife during a domestic dispute. The accused has been identified as Suleman Razzaq Kujra. The accused fled after the incident. Vakola police filed a case against the accused in terms of sections 103(1), 109(1) and 352 of the BNS and started investigation. According to the police, the accused Mohammad Suleman Kujra got angry and attacked both of them, due to which the daughter died instantly, while the wife Naseema Suleman Kujra is hospitalized in a critical condition. –IANS SAK/DSC Share this story Tags
