Rajnath Singh underlined the unique role of the coast guard, saying that this power works to the confluence of both external and internal safety. While the military is protecting the country from external threats and other agencies internal safety, the coast guard is active on both fronts. Its role is extremely important in illegal fishing, smuggling of drugs and weapons, human trafficking, pollution and combating seams. The Minister of Defense appreciated the human sensitivity of the coast guard, saying that the coast guard always responded immediately in the trouble of cyclone, oil leak, industrial accidents or foreign ships.
