Muzaffarpur: 20,000 liters of liquor seized after implementation of code of conduct, police made strict arrangements

Muzaffarpur, October 21 (IANS). In view of the Bihar assembly elections in 2025, police have made strict arrangements to ensure peaceful and fair polling in 11 constituencies of Muzaffarpur district. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sushil Kumar told news agency IANS that since the implementation of the code of conduct, around 20,000 liters of liquor have been seized under the Alcoholic Beverages (MMC) Act. He said vigilance was being taken to prevent electoral abuse of liquor, money and weapons. SSP Sushil Kumar informed that 33 permanent check points have been established in the district, where vehicles are intensively checked. Apart from this, vagrancy raids are conducted by mobile teams so that no illegal material gets out. He said our focus is that the election process should be completely transparent and peaceful. Any type of fraud or violence will not be tolerated. As a result of this campaign, raids were carried out on numerous illegal liquor shops, which curbed the illegal trade. For security reasons, 68 companies (Central Reserve Police Force and State Police) were deployed in Muzaffarpur. The SSP said that more than 8,000 people have been flagged off to keep an eye on suspicious elements. Surveillance has been increased on many of them so that they do not spoil the election atmosphere. Along with this, action was taken against four criminals in terms of the Crime Control Act (CCA). Strict instructions have been given to all the police stations to arrest the criminals with warrants. The SSP also spoke about combating the illegal drug trade. Drugs were found during intensive action in the district.
