“My daughter has a lot of pain …” In the Bengal gangrape case, the father of the victim expressed his pain, questions about the role of his friend

The incident of gang rape in Durgapur, Western Bengals, shocked the entire country. A Odisha medical student was brutally attacked by some people outside the university campus on Friday night. After receiving information about the incident, Durgapur police immediately began the investigation. So far, three accused have been arrested, while two are still absolute. Meanwhile, Archana Majumdar, a member of the National Commission for Women (NCW), has claimed that the role of the victim’s friend is suspicious. After meeting the victim in the hospital, he said the medical student was asked by her friend to leave college. He said: “The friend of the victim is also being investigated now. She insisted that he accompany her.” He further said that once the accused surrounded the victim outside the college site, her friend left. Police should investigate this aspect thoroughly, as the initial evidence indicates that her friend may have played an important role in this incident. The father of the victim, who reached Odisha’s Durgapur, also raised questions about the role of the suspected friend of his daughter. She said: “Once the accused surrounded my daughter, her friend ran away. My daughter is now a lot of pain. She is not even able to walk. She is on the hospital bed. We are very worried about her safety. We are afraid they can kill her there anytime. We want to take her back to Odisha. Meanwhile, Durgapur police and a forensic team reached the place on Sunday. Documents, samples and important evidence were collected. Heavy police force was deployed in the entire area to protect the evidence. Meanwhile, a team from the Odisha government also reached Durgapur and tried to meet the victim, but was not allowed. Disappointed, the team had to return without meeting him. This Odisha government team included the additional district magistrate (ADM) and additional superintendent of the Balasore Police (ASP). They came in two vehicles with Odisha registration numbers and were accompanied by a total of three officials. However, the team received no cooperation from the Hospital Administration and Medical College officials. The chairman of the Odisha State Women Commission Sovana Mohanty strongly condemned the incident. “It’s not just a atrocities against a daughter of Odisha, but also a matter of shame for the whole country,” he said on Sunday. He further stated that once the incident came to light, the Odisha government wrote a letter to the West Bengale government demanding immediate action. The chief minister himself spoke to the victim’s family. She is monitoring the matter personally and is constantly in contact with the relevant authorities. He said: “A team from our Balasore district has already been sent to Durgapur to provide all possible assistance to the victim. But it is sad that help was not granted to her. ‘ Sowa Mohanty has accused the government of the Trinamole congress of weakening law and order, saying: “36 hours after the incident, three accused were arrested, while two are still absolute. This is a failure of the administration.” He further said: “I have heard that the accused is of the minority community, but the issue is not of cabinets or religion, but of justice and women’s safety. The remaining two accused must be arrested immediately and all the culprits must receive strict punishment.” Mohanty also announced that she would personally visit the incident, meet the victim and inquire about her health. Ad and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also responded strongly to this horrific crime. He wrote on social media: “This incident is disgusting and painful. I wish the victim a quick recovery. There should be no place in society for such incidents against women. I demand a fair investigation and quick justice from Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of Western Bengale.” Odisha Congress President Bhakta Charan Das also strongly condemned the law. He said: “I condemn the gang rape of a woman in Oriya in West Bengal. Immediate and strict steps must be taken against the accused.” He instructed the party wing of the party to play an active role in getting justice for the victim and providing her with all possible help.
