Benjamin Netanyahu warns Hamas leaders in Qatar, accusing them of blocking Gaza wandy: "To get rid of them would ..." would ... "
Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu claims that the Hamas leaders in Qatar impede the ceasefire efforts and expand the conflict in Gaza. In a post on the social media platform X, Netanyahu said that these Hamas leaders are dragging the war endlessly and avoiding the release of hostages. His post reads: “The Hamas terrorist chiefs who live in Qatar don’t care about the people in Gaza. They blocked all ceasefire efforts to pull out the war endlessly. To get rid of them, the biggest obstacle would get rid of all our hostages and end the war.” Netanyahu’s remarks came when Israel repeatedly criticized Qatar for the presentation of Top Hamas leaders, according to the Times of Israel. This week, Netanyahu drew parallel between Israel’s campaign against Hamas leaders in Qatar and the US response to the attacks on September 11, 2001. In a video message, he said that Israel would act against Hamas leaders “wherever they are” unless Qatar forced them or handed it to the law, Times or Israel noticed. Netanyahu said, “Bring them before justice, because if you do not, we will.” The answer of Qatar Qatar rejected Netanyahu’s earlier claims as “reckless” and pointed out that the presentation of Hamas leaders was part of internationally backed mediation efforts involving the US and Israel. Following Netanyahu’s comment on the presentation of Hamas leaders in Qatar, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning his comments. “Netanyahu is fully aware that the host of the Hamas office took place within the framework of the mediation efforts of Qatar asked by the United States and Israel,” an ANI report cited. “The negotiations were always kept in an official and transparent way, with international support and in the presence of us and Israeli delegations. Netanyahu’s insinuation that Qatar secretly had the Hamas delegation is a desperate attempt to justify a crime condemned by the whole world,” he added. Israel on Tuesday carried out an air strike in Doha that targeted a meeting of Hamas’s senior leaders, which is believed to have discussed a new proposal in the US for a ceasefire and hostage release in Gaza, reports The Times of Israel.
