Kohima, October 3 (IANS). The Indian army successfully completed the climb on Mount Gorichen (21.286 feet or 6.488 meters), one of the highest peaks in the eastern Himalayas, which performs brilliantly with courage, discipline and teamwork. This campaign showed the adventure spirit and operational excellence of the army. The campaign began on August 20 through the GOC of Spear Head Division of Likabali Military Station. Earlier on August 13, the Advance team left for exploration, contact and coordination. The campaign team moved forward via Missamari, Tenga and Sanga (9,500 feet), where the soldiers took physical and mental adaptation training for difficult climbing. On September 1, the climb of Mago Road Head (12,200 feet) began. The team faced hard weather, snow peaks and strong winds by setting up Merathhang base camp, Chocrasum camp and Summit Camp. The soldiers tied ropes, carried cargo boats and built interim camps. On September 19, the Soldiers of the Spear Corps raised the national flag by reaching the top of Mount Gorichen, which became a symbol of the incompetent courage and pride of the Indian army. In the return trip, the team used installed camps and main routes. On October 3, GOC Spear Core, Lieutenant General as Pandharkar, AVSM, IceM beat the campaign in Dimapur. This campaign shows physical endurance, spiritual flexibility and operational capacity at the high height and inaccessible area of the Indian army. Mount Gorichen, located in the Tawang district, is one of the most challenging peaks in the eastern Himalayas. This campaign underlines the adventurous character of the army. Even before that, the Army Mount Everest, Kanderjunga and other peaks climbed, which is part of adventure training. This achievement not only increases the morale of soldiers, but also strengthens the presence of the army in areas such as Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
