A total of 13 candidates are in the fray, and by the evening it will become clear how many candidates’ nominations are found to be valid. Jagran Correspondent, Jammu. Scrutiny of nomination papers of 12 candidates who filed nominations for the Nagrota Assembly by-election to be held on November 11 has begun. Apart from BJP candidate Devyani Rana, National Conference candidate Shamim Begum and former minister Harshdev Singh, nine candidates contested the by-election from this assembly constituency. These nomination papers filed for Nagrota Assembly Constituency are being scrutinized today. The examination of nomination papers of all the candidates and the affidavits submitted with them will be completed by the evening, after which the situation on the nomination papers will become clear. Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Rajesh Kumar has been appointed as the returning officer for this assembly constituency and the team started the scrutiny of nomination papers at his office in DC office, Jammu on Wednesday. The examination of nomination papers will continue until 15:00, after which the Electoral Officer will issue the certificate whether it is correct or incorrect. After this, however, candidates will have until Friday to withdraw their nomination. This time, 12 candidates contested for the Nagrota Assembly by-election, of which five are independent candidates.
