Name of Pakistani Citizen in Electoral Roll... Ruckus started in Bengal before SIR

The name of a Pakistani national has reportedly been included in the electoral roll of the Naihati assembly in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Former Barrackpore MP Arjun Singh alleged that the name of a woman from Karachi, Pakistan, was included in the electoral roll. He raised the question as to how the name of a citizen of a neighboring country came to the Naihati constituency. The Election Commission will soon begin Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bengal. This allegation has already heated up the politics of the state. Saleya Khatoon is a resident of AT Ghosh Lane of Naihati assembly constituency. Despite being from Naihati, she is a Pakistani citizen by birth. BJP leader and former MP Arjun Singh claimed that despite being a Pakistani citizen, Saleya is a voter in Bengal. “She is a Pakistani citizen. She came here from Karachi. Her daughter also has a Pakistani passport, but she became an Indian after coming to Bengal.” “BJP MP demands arrest Arjun Singh has already emailed Saleya Khatoon’s Pakistani citizenship documents to the Election Commission and Home Department. He claims that the accused should be immediately arrested and deported. The same allegation was made against Azad Malik, who was recently involved in a fake passport case in the state. Azad voted in the elections last year and in the Sabha assembly vote. Bengal, he was a Pakistani citizen by birth. He admitted this during ED interrogation. Naihati’s Trinamool MP Sanat Dey did not deny that Naihati’s “voter” Saleya has Pakistani links. He said: “The Electoral Commission issues the voter’s card. They should investigate the matter. It is true that Saleya is from Pakistan. The man she married lived in Dubai for work. She came to the state after marrying him 28 years ago. Now they have to check whether the voter card is fake or genuine.” Saleya Khatoon came to India from Karachi in 1991. TV9 Bangla reporter visited the home of Saleya, who was a Pakistani national, based on the allegations against her. Her husband, Mohammad Imran, was reluctant to bring Saleya on camera. However, he did not deny that his wife is a Pakistani. 1991 came to Karachi. Came from here. His name was on the electoral roll before 2008. He has been voting since then. Saleya’s passport was recently canceled by the administration. Due to diplomatic tensions, his visa was not renewed. She lives illegally in Bengal. However, her family is demanding that the administration issue her a valid passport on humanitarian grounds, which means Saleeya wants Indian citizenship.”
