Former national record holder Manikanta Hobalidhar performed brilliantly on Sunday in the rain -affected day at the National Open Athletics Championship and broke his record by winning the men’s 100m race in 10.19 seconds. 10.19 seconds is the second fastest time ever by any Indian runner -up. At Birsa Munda Stadium, Manikanta equated her previous 10.23 seconds in the semi -finals and then beat many best participants in the final. He caught the gold while further as Pranav Gurav (10.31 seconds) and hard raut (10.38 seconds). Manikanta’s victorious time was just 0.01 seconds less than the national record of Animesh Kujur of 10.18 seconds. After the race, he acknowledged that the wet lane hampered its running speed. He said: “My goal was to take out 10.10 meters, but the wet track delayed my pace. My goal is to win a personal medal in the 2026 Asian Games.” High jump athlete Gobika, who has already jumped 1.79 meters and won the gold medal, sustained a serious knee injury in an effort to ensure a more high position.
