National Tennis Championships: Parthasarathy, Akanksha and Riddhi in Pre-Quarterfinals

New -delhi, October 8 (IANS). Top Sade Parthasarathy Arun Mundhe, Akanksha Ghosh and Riddhi Shinde advanced to the Pre-Quarter of the Girls’ under-the-National Tennis Championships in the DLTA complex in New Delhi on Wednesday. Parthasarathy faced a difficult challenge against Swanika Roy in the beginning, as the scores were bound at 2-2, but the top seed Swanika Roy with excellent base game won the next seven games to win 9-2 and enter the next round of the tournament. Meanwhile, the third seed Akanksha Ghosh has also entered the last 16 after defeating Kirtama Rangineni by a score of 9-2. Akanksha showed her brilliant skills against Kirtama by winning six consecutive games to take a significant lead and achieve a comfortable victory. Riddhi Shinde defeated the sixth seed Aashi Kashyap 9-4 to enter the next round. Riddhi broke his opponent four times and took the lead before sealing victory. In the girls’ under-14 category, Aniha Gavinola defeated the seventh seed Eshita Sriyala 9-5, while top-seed Padma Rameshkumar Shubhi Sharma defeated 9-3 in the last 32 collision. On the other hand, in the Boys’ Under-16 single category, the top seed Prakash Saran Saksham Bhansal defeated in straight sets by 9-8 (7-1). The eighth seed Tavish Pahwa entered the pre-quarter in the quarterfinals by defeating Punet M. 9-5. Apart from the prestigious titles, the winners will also get kit allowance in the junior category. The winners and runners-up of the under-16 and under-14 singles events will also receive a £ 25,000 tennis scholarship.
