PTI, New Delhi. The Indian Navy on Thursday held a seminar aimed at developing understanding of cyber threats in the maritime domain and promoting collaboration among key stakeholders to strengthen the national cyber security posture. Titled ‘Impact of Cyber Attacks on Maritime Domain and Its Impact on National Security and International Relations’, the seminar was held at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan. Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi said the government is paying special attention to the maritime sector to advance India’s economic and security goals. Therefore, India’s maritime development under the vision of ‘Prosperity from the Sea’ is guided by initiatives like Sagar Amrit Kaal Drishti 2047, Sagarmala and PM Gati Shakti. The Navy Chief also emphasized the need to inculcate cyber security in all maritime systems from the outset and strengthen coordination for the rapid sharing of information between stakeholders. On this occasion Jitin Prasad, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Commerce and Industry delivered the keynote address. He emphasized the increasing importance of cyber security in maritime domain security and “our responsibility to build a strong, resilient and responsive maritime cyber defense architecture”. The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the event was organized with the aim of developing understanding of cyber threats in the maritime domain and fostering cooperation between key stakeholders to strengthen the national cyber security posture.
