NCB was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for drug smuggler arrested in Bareilly

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) was relieved when the special NDPS court, Bareilly, sentenced a drug smuggler to 12 years of strict imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 Lakh in a case of Opium batter. The official said in a statement that NCB’s Lucknow Regional Unit acted on a specific intelligence information and arrested Saath Kumar on March 2, 2024, with 4 kg opium in Bareilly. The Special Judge (NDPs), in his ruling on September 26, convicted Satish Kumar in terms of Article 08/18/29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. A NCB official of the NCB’s Lucknow -Zonal unit said that immediately after the arrest of Saath Kumar, an investigation, a formal complaint was filed in court, requested in the hearing, staged by the trial, followed by the trial. The official said in a statement that the prosecution is an important milestone in the Bureau campaign against drug trafficking and confirms NCB’s commitment to protecting society from the danger of drugs. The statement also said this also reflects effective coordination between intelligence campaigns, legal teams and support between agencies. Earlier this month, a joint team of Assam Rifles and NCB arrested two drug smugglers in the Chandel district Manipur and received a narcotic of about Rs 53.8 crore from their possession. A defense spokesman said the drug against drugs were conducted on September 26 based on specific intelligence information. After hard work, a team of 22 soldiers from Assam Rifles and NCB successfully captured the two suspects. 67.26 kg highly intoxicated methamphetamine tablets were restored to the intensive examination of vehicles and individuals, the estimated market price Rs 53.8 crore.
