NCRB told Kolkata the safest city, BJP leaders raised questions
Kolkata, October 4 (IANS). In a recent report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Kolkata was declared the safest city for women. BJP leaders asked questions about this achievement. Public officials Minister Sukant Majumdar is questioning the credibility of the NCRB report. He said: “NCRB does not function independently. It depends on the data given by state governments. Talk to the victims and their families of recent incidents in Western Bengals. Ask those walking around the streets at night, Taxi drivers and car drivers will tell you how unprotected Kolkata is.” Western Bengal leader of the opposition Shubhendu Adhikari also responded sharply to the issue. He said: “Although it is said that the NCRB report is safe, but the soil reality is well known. There is no security here.” The official claims that the information provided by the state government does not reflect the actual status. Samik Bhattacharya, president of West BJP, said that the people here know that a FIR is in no case registered here. When I hear the figures released, every child from the Western Bengals laughs. On the other hand, the Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma described it as the result of the hard work and dedication of the police force. Police Commissioner Manoj Verma said: “The NCRB report is the result of the hard work and dedication of our entire team to Kolkata. Every soldier of the Kolkata police worked day and night to maintain law and order in the city and the citizens feel safe.” He also informed that the Kolkata police made extensive preparations on Sunday for the immersion of idols on Red Road, including traffic management and security. -Ians Aks shares this story tags
