Innovation has begun with India’s first hybrid ordinary variety. In the year 1934, the college developed the first variety of hybrids, Mahmood Bahar and Prabhasankar, which is still considered a major milestone in horticulture and commercial production research. Similarly, many advanced varieties of paddy, wheat, maize, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables and fruits have been developed here, which benefit millions of farmers. More than 20 thousand agriculturalists have so far been prepared, more than 20 thousand graduates and more than two thousand postgraduate experts have come from the institute contributing to various universities, research institutions, government departments and international organizations in the country and abroad. The research and efforts of these experts have brought a new direction for India’s food security, agricultural reform and rural development. The college has worked to deliver technology to the Farmers’ Fields. Each year, more than 50 thousand farmers are trained in organic farming, seed production, crop protection, horticulture, animal husbandry and water management. The advantage of this is to reach the farmers of not only Bihar, but also the farmers of Jharkhand, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. Modern technology to meet new challenges and keep in mind the challenges of climate change, the institute pays particular attention to the development of climate -friendly crop varieties and techniques.
