Netflix’s Taylor Sheridan-Inspired Thriller Shifts Setting

When the Taylor Sheridan-inspired drama Untamed returns for its second season on Netflix, fans should expect a major location change. Untamed premiered in July 2025 and earned an 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes. For its first two weeks on the streaming platform, the series made it to the top of Netflix’s most-watched list of English-language TV shows.

According to Production Weekly (via MovieWeb), Untamed season 2 will move the show to Hawaii. The first season was set in Yosemite National Park in California, but production was based out of Vancouver, BC, with some filming taking place in Chip Kerr Park in Port Moody, BC.

Production on Untamed season 2 will last for almost four months, beginning February 17, 2026, and ending at the beginning of June.

Filming locations in Hawaii aren’t known yet, but the state has more than one national park for producers to consider. These include Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Haleakalā National Park.

In the series, Eric Bana stars as a special agent with the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch named Kyle Turner. The character is stationed at Yosemite National Park in the aftermath of his son’s death.

The first season ended with Shane Maguire dying at the hands of Naya Vasquez, and Paul Souter killing his daughter amid a blackmail scheme before ending his own life. After all of this turmoil, Kyle ended up leaving the park.

Along with Bana, Untamed also stars Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lily Santiago and Wilson Bethel.

The show’s co-creator, Mark L. Smith, previously hinted at a different park that Kyle would be traveling to, although he did not mention Hawaii. With the deaths of so many characters during the season 1 finale, producers will have to cast multiple new roles to work alongside Kyle at whichever park in Hawaii he lands upon next.

Sheridan is most famous for creating Yellowstonealong with other shows like it 1883, 1923, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lioness and Landman. After all of that success, it’s not surprising that other media companies and streaming services want to pursue their own Sheridan-esque series, which Netflix has done with Untamed.

The series was renewed just 12 days after it premiered on Netflix, so the fan interest in the Sheridan-inspired show clearly warrants more stories about Kyle.

Not much is known about the future of Untamed right now, aside from the location change to Hawaii, but fans will be ready for more when season 2 is released.
