New highway project to connect Patna-Ara-Sasaram in Bihar

A new high-rise highway project connecting Patna-Ara-Sasaram in Bihar was approved last week by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), which will promote the connectivity in the region and spread up to 120.10 km in the state. The project to be developed at a total cost of Rs 3.712 crore will be built on the hybrid annuity mode (HAM). This corridor, which is a mixture of green field and brown field, will be an access-controlled project. In highway projects, a “Greenfield” project refers to the erection of a completely new road on the already undeveloped country, which is usually designed to escape from pressure areas by creating a new route. In contrast, a “Brownfield” project focuses on improving the existing road, such as expanding or strengthening it so that it can be brought to the current standards. The details of the plans of the Patna-Ara-Sasaram course currently, the travel time between Sasaram, macaws and Patna depends on the state highways (SH-2, SH-12, SH-81 and SH-102), which lasts about 3 to 4 hours due to excessive traffic jams, especially in the city of macaws. To reduce this burden, a new Greenfield gait will be created, along with the upgrading of 10.6 km from existing Brownfield Highway. This will help to remove traffic problems in densely populated areas such as Ara, Grahi, Piro, Bikramganj, Mokar and Sasaram. The proposed route will be integrated with large national highways NH-19, NH-319, NH-922, NH-131G and NH-1120, which secure smooth contact with large places such as Aurangabad, Kaimur and Patna.
