New World Chess Championships announced will be given joint winner title in Fast Classic, Rapid and Blitz

Mumbai, October 15 (IANS). Norwegian chess organizers announced the launch of a new world championship on Thursday. It will crown a champion in Fast Classic, Rapid and Blitz. This championship was recognized by Fide, the world -regulatory body of sports. The new championship, called The Total Chess World Championship Tour, will host four events each year and a joint champion in three disciplines – Fast Classic, Rapid and Blitz Chess. “We expect it to become one of the most sought after rallies in the entire chess calendar,” Norway Chess and the new championship CEO Kjell Madland said in a release on Wednesday. The overall championship, which consists of four tournaments held in different world cities, will have a minimum annual prize pool of $ 2.7 million across the tour. There is $ 750,000 on occasion for the first three events and $ 450,000 for the final, along with performance bonuses. A Pilot tournament is planned in 2026, with the first full championship season in 2027. The initiative comes from the organizers of the prestigious Norway chess tournament. The official World Championship Status Agreement was signed in early October with the International Chess Federation. The purpose of Chess’s total world championship tour is to find the player the best masters: Fast Classic, Rapid and Blitz. Fast Classic is a new form of chess with a 45 -minute time limit plus an extra 30 seconds on each move. This will get the status of classic chess.
