The Rocky start to the season continued on Sunday as the Cronulla Sharks LEFT THE HOME SIDE SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS IN A 34-14 Victory in Newcastle.

Such a statistic was not an issue during last year’s campaign as the club managed to qualify for the finals despite having the second lowest total of points in the competition.

But the knights have struggled to find their feet in the opening rounds as they have continued to be derailed by errors across the field.

Having Entered the Clash Against the Sharks Off the Back of a 16-Point Defeat to the TigersO’Brien was not going to allow any speculation that their latest performance was a repeat of last week’s Woes.

“(That’s) Too Harsh,” O’Brien said when a reporter compared the two battles post-match.

“A tons of effort went into tonight. Last week was riddled with play one errors and clearly there were a lot of errors today but we’ve got a team (working hard).”

O’Brien reiterated the significant list of talent that he is currently sitting in his casualty Ward which includes Jacob Saifiti, Adam Elliott, Jack Herington and Dylan Lucas.

“Our depth is being tested at the moment – we’ve got five injuries but that’s not the problem, every team has injuries. The issue is Five in the same position. They are all forwards so takes its toll.

“I’m Disappointed. We always want to win and I especially hate losing (in newcastle). I don’t feel like we’ve let anyone down in terms of how hard we’re so I reckon you’re being too harsh.”

Kalyn Ponga supported his coach’s comments as he recognized that his team had made improvements to their performance syncing the tigers.

“I think it did (feel different). I feel like we were in that game,” he said.

“I think we did well to get into half time at 16-4, given the field position we gave them.

“That period after half time definitely hurt. We’re a tough Little footy team, we just need to be disciplined in certain areas.”

The Knights next face the Warriors on Friday.
