NIA has filed charge sheet against the main accused in Chandigarh Grenade Attack

New -delhi, October 4 (IANS). The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against Abhijot Singh alias Babba alias Gopi, the most important accused in the grenade attack in Sector 10, Chandigarh. The attack was created by Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorists. The supplementary charge was presented in the special Nia Court of Chandigarh on Friday. Abhijot Singh, a Punjab resident, was arrested in April 2025 in the case. The attack was targeted by a retired Punjab police officer to create fear in society. NIA investigation revealed that the conspiracy was hatched by BKI terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda and gangster Happy Passia in the US. Pasia recruited terrorists in India and provided them with explosives with money and weapons. Rinda and Pasia were declared a refugee in March last year when Rohan Christ and Vishal Christ were arrested. In the investigation, Abhijot Singh was marked as co-specification. According to the investigation, in December 2023, Abhijot was taken to Armenia, where she was recorded by Shamsher Shera, a happy Pasia faction. After returning to India in July 2024, Reiki van Lakshya and with Rohan Christ tried to kill in August 2024. For this he got money from BKI. Thereafter, Rohan and Vishal carried out the pomegranate attack in September 2024. The NIA says that Abhijot played an active role in terrorist activities. Now the agency is looking for other accused and colleagues who have previously provided logistics, weapons and assistance to the field activities in the conspiracy. The case is a step towards strengthening action against terrorism and organized crime.
