The day of June 15, 1947 is historic, the congress approved the division of the country on this day

New -Delhi, June 14 (IANS). Exactly 78 years ago, on June 15, 1947, a day was recorded in the history of India, which not only changed the geographical borders of the country but also affected the lives of millions of people forever. This was the day the Indian National Congress during its historic session of India’s division under the Mountbatten scheme of British rule. Not only was this decision a political decision, but it became a symbol of pain that bore two new nations as India and Pakistan. The period of 1947 was the time of freedom. British rule was at its last stop and the dream of India’s independence was about to realize. But the price of this freedom was the division of the country. It is said that the proposed Mountbatten scheme proposed by the British Viceroy Lord Mountbatten was divided into two parts, India and Pakistan. It was not easy for the congress to accept this scheme. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had a difficult choice to accept the part, or to throw the country into common violence and instability for a long time. The atmosphere was serious at the session of Congress. There was an intensive discussion between the leaders. Gandhiji, who was strongly against the division, calls it a ‘dissection of the country’. But common tension, especially in Punjab and Bengal, forced the congress to make this difficult decision. The Muslim League, led Mohammad Ali Jinnah, was determined by the claim of a separate nation. In such a situation, Congress has accepted that the division is the only way that can protect the country from more bloodshed. After this decision, the India’s independence date was determined on August 15, 1947, but this approval of the division was not just a decision on paper. As a result, millions of people have become homeless, thousands have lost their lives and common riots have shaken many parts of the country. There was a major migration in areas such as Punjab and Bengal, which gave one of the greatest human tragedies in history. If we remember this historical event, it reminds us today of the sacrifices that formed India today. It was a period when the country celebrated freedom together and endured the pain of division. This history of history has taught us the importance of solidarity, tolerance and peace. It reminds us of how heavy the cost of freedom was, and it is our responsibility to keep it cherished. -Ians ax/kr
