The scheme will operate in coordination with the National Health Authority (NHA), Bihar police, registered hospitals and state health agencies. Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal, secretary of the Department of Transport, said: “Our goal is to reduce deaths due to road accidents. Timely treatment and better health facilities can save many lives.” A digital platform is also developed for this, where the information of the accident and the treatment process can be detected. The scheme was started earlier as a pilot project in Chandigarh, where it had great success. Now it is being implemented across Bihar. However, opposition parties called this announcement an election stunt. A RJD spokesman said: “Before the election, the Nitish government brings such schemes to strive the public, but ensures implementation.” Nevertheless, experts believe that if the scheme is implemented effectively, it may result in revolutionary changes in traffic safety and health services in Bihar.
