Noida Police seized 43 kg of illegal fireworks, one accused was arrested
Noida, October 18 (IANS). Ahead of Diwali, while the administration is keeping a strict vigil on crackers keeping the safety and environment in mind, the Sector 20 police station has taken major steps and busted the illegal trade in illegal and banned crackers. The police arrested an accused from the spot with 43 kg 100 grams of explosives. Police Station Sector-20 police team received information that a large quantity of illegal crackers near the power house near Gate no. 8 is stored in Sector-20. The police immediately acted on the information and conducted a raid and arrested the accused Varun Bhatija, resident of F-142 Sector-20 Noida (age 47 years) from the spot. During the search, a total of 43 kg 100 grams of illegal and prohibited crackers were recovered from the possession of the accused. According to the police, the accused was planning to stock these coconuts and sell them in the market without any valid license. The police seized the recovered goods and registered a case against the accused under the Explosives Act. The station in charge said that in view of the Diwali festival, a continuous checking campaign is being conducted to stop the sale of illegal firecrackers. Strict legal action will be taken against those shopkeepers or persons who manufacture, store or sell fire crackers without permission. The local police appealed to the people to use only eco-friendly green fireworks and to report any suspicious activities to the police immediately.
