Noida: Strict steps to control pollution, 10 hotspots identified

Noida, October 18 (IANS). The pollution control department has intensified its preparations to stop the rising pollution in Noida. Three special teams of the department have been formed under the leadership of regional officer Ritesh Kumar Tiwari, who will monitor the pollution situation in different parts of the city. The department has identified 10 hotspots in Noida, where pollution levels are found to be continuously high. Five officers have been deployed in each team who will go to the spot and inspect. These teams were tasked with stopping polluting activities in construction sites, roads and industrial areas. Strict action will also be taken against those who break the rules. Regional Officer Ritesh Kumar Tiwari said that Grap-1 (Graded Response Action Plan) has been implemented in Noida and on the orders of the District Magistrate, the department has started working at the field level. He said that the teams are continuously monitoring and if any irregularities related to pollution control are found in any area, the concerned authority is requested for immediate action. He said that due to festivals, traffic pressure has increased in the city, causing some inconvenience, but the pollution control department is hopeful that the situation will soon come under control and the air quality will be seen to improve. It is worth noting that air pollution in NKR has again become a cause for concern. According to the latest air quality index (AQI) data, the air quality in most parts of the National Capital Region on Friday was also recorded in the ‘very poor’ category. In this too, Ghaziabad remains the most polluted city, followed by Noida and Delhi. Experts have advised citizens to avoid outdoor activities during morning and evening hours, especially respiratory patients and the elderly. In addition, it is also advised to wear masks and use air purifiers inside the house. –IANS AS/ Share this story Tags
