International star Shakira revealed the hidden side of her artistic beginnings, explaining that she was resorting to heavy makeup in her first artistic career to hide her lack of confidence, stressing that her relationship with beauty and appearance has evolved a lot over time.
Shakira’s speech came during an interview with Allure magazine within the paragraph “Beauty between the past and the present”, where she reviewed an old photo of her from the Latin Grammy Awards in 2000, in which she appeared in a blatant look, commenting on it, saying: “At that time, I took a long time to prepare, and I think that lack of experience and lack of confidence is what made me resort to exaggerated makeup.”
The owner of the song “Waka Waka” added that today she has become more confident in herself, and prefers to appear in nature, noting that she is applying makeup for herself and rarely allows anyone else to do this, and she said:
“I don’t like to wear wigs or very high heels, because I like to move in my nature, so I need to look normal too.”
Shakira had a wide interaction through social media, as she praised her fans with her courage in talking about this stage and presenting a sincere picture of herself.

Shakira released her twelfth album entitled “LAS MUJERES YA No LLORAN” (Women did not cry in) in March 2024, a work that reflects the spirit of strength and independence in her career, as the album included a mixture of Latin rhythms and enthusiastic songs inspired by their personal experiences.
It also announced the launch of a global tour of the same album’s name, which started in North America in 2024, and is preparing to move to Latin America during 2025, in one of the most expected lyrical tours in the world, after a long period of absence.
