The notice states that no employee will be allowed to work for more than nine hours (including meal and rest periods) on any day and more than 48 hours in a week. It states that employers will make appropriate arrangements regarding safety, security and transportation for all employees who are asked to work overtime or night shifts. Furthermore, no employee shall be permitted to work for more than five hours continuously. “Eligible employees will be paid overtime wages at double the normal rate under Section 8 of the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act, 1954. Shift work, if any, will be done in such a manner that no employee is forced to work exclusively in night shift,” the notice said. Importantly, every employer employing female workers must compile an ICR under the Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redress) Act, 2013.
