Lata Mangeshkar, one of the most sought after singers in India, was also known as ‘Swart Kokila’ and ‘Melody Queen’ because of her melodious voice, but the voice that Malika Lata Mangeshkar also decorated was the voice of Pakistan’s famous singer Nur Jahan, who recorded about 10,000 songs during her long career. The name Nur Jahan, who gave the Bollywood film Anmol Watch’s ‘Awaaz de Kahan Hai’ out of 1946, is not an introduction. She was counted among the most famous personalities of her era because of melodic voice, incredible singing and unparalleled beauty. Nur Jahan was born on September 21, 1926, in the Punjab of Pakistan District (present -day Pakistan). His real name was Allah Rakhi Vasai, but in the film industry he received recognition in the name Nur Jahan. Due to the tendency for music since childhood, he studied classical music and began to sing on stage at a young age. Gradually, his popularity has increased so much that people start calling him Malika-e-tarannum, that is, Queen of Tarannum. Nur Jahan began his career in India and spread his song magic with the acting in films. The sweetness and depth in his voice were so much that the listeners went crazy. His songs Sung in Anmol Watch (1946), Jugnu (1947) and Mirza Sahiban (1947) are still on the tongue of music lovers. She was one of the biggest stars of the Indian theater before the division, but after the division of the country in 1947 she had to occupy herself in Pakistan. Ramchandra wrote in his autobiography that once Lata and Nur Jahan met, they began to cry bitterly. This scene was very emotional.
