Medha Patkar Shocked Court, Non-Available Las Letter Issued
New -delhi, April 23 (IANS). A Delhi court on Wednesday issued a warrant against Medha Patkar, leader and social activist of the Narmada Bachao andolan. This action was done following conviction in the criminal case brought against him, registered by Delhi Lieutenant -Governor in 2001. Additional Judge Vishal Singh of the Business Court said that Medha Patkar did not appear in court and did not follow the order related to the sentence. The judge said that Patkar’s intention was clear to disregard the court order and to avoid trial. As there is no adjournment order on the punishment, the court said it became mandatory to put pressure on Patkar. The court said in the order: “Non-available burden must be issued against Medha Patkar, who was convicted on the next date by the office of the commissioner of Delhi.” The next hearing on the case will be held on May 3. At the same time, the court also said that if Patkar did not follow the sentence of the sentence on the next hearing, the court would have to reconsider the ‘liberal punishment’ and the criminal change earlier. Please tell that Medha Patkar appealed last year against the sentence given by the Magistrate’s Court. In the appeal, he was granted bail and the sentence of five months imprisonment given to him, and a fine of Rs 10 Lakh was postponed. The case was registered under section 500 (criminal defamation) of the Indian Criminal Act. The case was registered by Vinay Kumar Saxena in 2001, when he was the head of the Ahmedabad -based NGO ‘National Council for Civil Liberty’. Saxena said Medha Patkar in a press note issued on November 25, 2000, accused him of being cowardly and land and involved in Hawala transactions. In the case, the court convicted Patkar, saying that his statements were deliberate, malicious, malicious and Saxena’s reputation for the purpose of damaging. Advocate Abhimanyu Shrestha presented the side on behalf of Patkar, while Advocate Gajinder Kumar, Kiran Jai, Chandrashekhar and Soumya Arya were present on behalf of Saxena. -Ians DSC/CBT Share this story Tags
