New York Mayor Eric Adams ended his bid for re -election and cleaned the way for Democratic Zohran Mamdani and former governor Andrew Cuomo, who is an independent management, to fight in the top office of the city in the November 4 election. Reuters/Kylie Cooper/File Photo (Reuters), Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, announced on Sunday that he was abandoning his bid for re -election, and effectively cleared the road to Democrat Zohran Mamdani and former governor Andrew Cuomo, who acted as independent. In a video shared on social media, Adams emphasized the achievements during his tenure, including a reduction in violent crime, but he quoted “constant media speculation” and a decision by the City Council for Campaign Financing to withhold public funding as important reasons for ending his campaign. “Despite everything we have achieved, I can’t continue my re -election campaign,” Adams said. Public polls showed that Adams far behind Mamdani, who has a significant lead, chased Cuomo. Adams also struggled to raise campaign funds and faced challenges from a closely disposed federal bribery case. Adams’ exit exit on November 4 probably leaves a show between Mamdani and Cuomo. At 33, Mamdani can become the youngest and most progressive mayor of New York in decades. He achieved a decisive victory over Cuomo in Democratic Primary, and focused on a platform on reducing the cost of living in one of the world’s most expensive cities. The Republican Curtis Sliwa remains in the race, but his campaign faced setbacks in his own party, while Trump recently described him as “not a exactly time.” It is a developing story.
