Bhubaneswar, October 12 (IANS). There is anger among the people about the gang rape of a medical student from Jaleshwar in the Balasore district Odisha Friday in Durgapur. Leaders from different parties in Odisha on Sunday urged the West Bengale government to take the most stringent steps against the accused. Senior BJD leader and Jaleswar Mla Ashwini Kumar Patra spoke to media people, said: “The government of Western Bengals must conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure that the culprits involved in the gang rape receive the most stringent punishment. Unbundling leads to most of society. ” Meanwhile, the president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), Bhakta Charan Das, condemned the horrific gang rape of an Oriya girl in Durgapur. Das said: “I express deeply sadly and condemn the incident of gang rape of an Odisha student. We immediately demand arrest of all the accused and strict punishment for it. I will order the Odisha Pradesh Mahila congress to take the necessary steps in this regard.” On the other hand, senior BJP leader and Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sadangi claimed that the neighboring state of West Bengal became a pivot for anti-social elements and terrorists. Sadangi said: “The government of the Western Bengals has always been soft towards such elements. How many more innocent girls and medical students, who are the asset of the nation, will be sacrificed? According to reports, West Bengal police have so far arrested four accused in the gang rape of a second year medical student of a private medical college and hospital in Durgapur in the Western Burdwan district. According to police, the student went out of campus for dinner on Friday night with a male friend when some youth who ride motorcycles began to follow them and commented obscene.
