Odisha: CM Majhi spoke to the victim of Durgapur, said, 'The government stands firmly with you'
Bhubaneswar, October 13 (IANS). Odisha’s chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi spoke by phone on Monday to the girl who was in the Durgapur, her mother and the chairman of the Odisha State Women Commission, Shobhana Mohanty, in the West Bengal. During the conversation, the chief minister comforted the victim and said, “Don’t worry, the Odisha government is stuck with you.” Majhi wanted the victim a quick recovery and assured her that all necessary arrangements would be made for her training and rehabilitation. He repeated the commitment of the state government to ensure that the culprits are punished as soon as possible. The chief minister said with the victim’s mother that Odisha would continue his efforts to ensure that the accused was brought before justice soon. Majhi also discussed the case with Shobhana Mohanty, chairman of the Women Commission, and advised her to constantly maintain with the government of West Bengale and take all possible steps to give justice to the victim. He emphasized that all available platforms would be used to act immediately. The victim is still doing treatment. Earlier, the chief minister also spoke to his father. Earlier, the father of the second -year medical student said he would take the victim back to Odisha after taking her statement before a judicial magistrate. The father of the victim also met the opposition leader of West Bental on Monday afternoon. The officer told the victim’s father that he would arrange transport for the victim.
