Odisha: CM Mohan Charan Majhi checked the review meeting of heavy rain and strong wind

Bhubaneswar, September 26 (IANS). Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi checked the preparations of the state on Friday with a view to predicting deep pressure on the bay of the Bengal of India Meteorological Department (IMD), causing heavy rain and strong winds in many districts. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari provided information to the media, saying that Malkangiri, Na Brangpur and Kalahandi districts were under warning for ‘Red Zone’, while 14 other districts came to ‘Orange Zone’. Collector of 17 districts along with officials from the Department of Disaster Management, Energy, Panchayati Raj, rural development and other major departments attended the review meeting. Senior officials, including general secretary, director -general of the police and additional general secretary (income), also attended the meeting. The priest said: “Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has instructed all districts to be fully attentive.” According to Minister Suresh Pujari, sufficient reserves of drought ration, sailing and snake bite medicine are available. Floods and cyclone shelters were prepared in 17 districts. Pregnant women who delivered in the next seven days have been identified and if necessary, they will be transferred to primary health centers (PHC) and community health centers (CHCs) in advance. Odisha Disaster Accelerated Action Force (ODRAF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Fire Services have already been deployed in sensitive areas. Special attention is also paid to the danger of landslides in hilly areas such as Kalinga Ghats. Two state ministers, Gokulanand Mallik and Bibhuti Jena, were given the task of supervising the grassroots preparations in Ganjam and other southern districts. The minister further said: “We are fully prepared to face any situation. Along with the protection of human life, steps have been taken to protect livestock.” -Ians Aks/DSC shares this story -tags
