Odisha: CM Mohan Majhi expressed sadness about death due to landslides and flooding, announced help
Bhubaneswar, October 3 (IANS). Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed sadness over the deaths of two people due to floods and landslides caused on Friday on October 2 in the Gajapati district. According to the office of the Chief Minister (CMO), Trinath Nayak of Basiguda Gram Panchayat and Laxman Nayak of Maripalli Gram Panchayat, after continuous rain in the area, died in separate incidents of floods and landslides. The Chief Minister’s Office said: “After receiving information about the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deeply sadly and ordered Gajapati district collector to give an ex-gratia amount of Rs 4-4 Lakh of the State Response Reaction Fund (SDRF) to the families of the decision.” Due to heavy rains on October 2 due to the low pressure area over the bay of Bengal, there was widespread damage in different parts of the Gajapati district, including landslides, sudden floods and blocks that block. In one such incident, RK was a landslide on Thursday at about 4:30 pm in Basiguda Village under the UDayagiri police border, in which 50 -year -old Trinath Nayak, a village resident, died. Similarly, 40 -year -old Laxman Malik of the Band Guda town of the Mohna area in the Gajapati district was swept away in the Ludru drain on Thursday night due to a strong flow of water in an effort to save his calf. His body was recovered from Luddru Drain’s water on Friday morning. Meanwhile, the rescue team was not able to locate 35 -year -old Rajika Sabar of the Maulasahi village of Gajapati and her elderly father Karthik Sabar, despite more than 24 hours, allegedly buried during the fierce ground wing. Police resources claim that the father and son went to work to the farm on Thursday morning. There was a landslide near his farm around 1:30 p.m. When he did not return, the residents suspect that they may have been buried due to landslides. Meanwhile, some people also suspect that they may have disappeared near the drain due to floods.
