Odisha: Missing Woman Constable Case resolved, man arrested for murder

Bhubaneswar, September 18 (IANS). The commissioner police solved the mystery of the disappearance of a female traffic constable from Bhubaneswar, which has been missing since September 6. Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Dutt Singh spoke to Media people that the 25 -year -old victim Shubhitra Sahu, a resident of Pichukuli in the Khordha district, was killed by her husband Deepak Kumar Raut, who was a constable in the commissioner police. His body was buried in a deserted place in the woods near Ghatgaon area in the Keonjhar district. The police commissioner said the victim was on duty on September 6, while her disappearance report was filed at the Capital police station on September 7 after she did not return to service. Police later conducted an intensive search operation in search of the missing female constable. He further said that the victim was married to accused Deepak on July 23, 2024. During the investigation into Shubhitra’s chat, police learned that she was in depression and that he was planning to take a week ago. The police also searched different religious places because they intended to make the pilgrimages such as Banaras, Mathura, etc. To visit. Accused Deepak also acknowledged during interrogation that he had selected Shubmitra in his Honda City car (registration number OD-02-R-R-8494) on September 6 and strangled him in unit VI between 14:00 and 15:00. The police commissioner said during a conversation with the media that further investigation had been undertaken to find out other possible aspects of the murder, including the suspicion that the accused was planning to claim the insurance amount after the murder of Shubhmitra. Meanwhile, police excavated the body of Shubhitra from a bag by digging during the relaxation in the forest of Ghatagaon in Keonjhar. A case (535/25) has been registered under sections 103 (1) and 238 BNS at the Capital Police Station based on its confession and evidence.
