Odisha News: 8 Students who were admitted to hospital after classmates apply Fevikww to their eyes in Kandhamal
Eight students from a school in the Kandhamal district of Odisha were admitted to hospital after some fellow students allegedly applied Fevikww to their eyes while they were asleep. The shocking incident happened Thursday night at Hostel of Sebashram School in Salaguda, Phiringia Block, Kandhamal. Due to Fevikwik, a strong adhesive, the victims could not open their eyes. The victims were first taken to Gochhapada Hospital and later they were moved to District Headquarters Hospital in Phulbani for further medical treatment. One student was fired, while seven others are still observed. According to doctors, the Fevikww has damaged their eyes, but timely medical intervention has contributed to preventing more consequences. After the incident, a detailed investigation was ordered in the case. The district administration immediately suspended Sebashram school’s principal Manoranjan Sahu. The investigation will determine how the incident occurred in the residence and how the students managed to acquire the adhesive within the campus. The role of school staff members, including custodians and the superintendent, will also be investigated. The tragic incident occurred in the Nirjharna village of the Jhampda area when three children went to bathe in a dam near their home. According to police, the children accidentally slipped into deep water and began to drown. After hearing their screams for help, villagers rushed to the place and managed to save one of them. However, two of them could not be saved. The Jhampda Station Officer (SHO) Sunil Tank said police reached the place when receiving information. “The two children – Fauji (9) and Sunil (7) – were pulled out of the dam with the help of villagers and rushed to Lalsot Hospital, where doctors killed them,” he said.
